South Africa—Africa’s most distinguished leaders, cultural icons, and innovators will gather on 6 December 2025 at the Iconic Conference Centre in Sandton, Johannesburg, for the Icons of Africa Awards 2025, a celebration of outstanding achievements that continue to shape the continent’s cultural, social, and economic landscape. The name of the venue says it all—an iconic space for Africa’s most iconic leaders.

This year’s honourees at the Icons of Africa Awards exemplify excellence across diverse sectors:

Lifetime Achievement Award (Entertainment): Mduduzi Mabaso, for decades of remarkable contribution to the African entertainment industry.

Lifetime Achievement Award (Sports): Baba Mthethwa, in recognition of his lifelong dedication and impact on African sports.

Nollywood Icon Award: Ibrahim Chatta (Nigeria), for his significant impact on African cinema.

Global Cultural Icon Award: Carlton “Spragga Benz” (Jamaica), for his role in advancing music and cultural influence globally.

Sports Commentary & Media Excellence: Reggie Ndlovu, honoured for his outstanding work as a sports commentator, elevating African sports coverage.

Public Relations & Communications: Simphiwe Majola, for his pioneering work in media and public relations across South Africa.

Pan-African Leadership & Advocacy: Roselyn Akosua Mantey (Ghana), Guinness World Record holder, recognised for her trailblazing achievements.

Media Excellence: Najma Paul (Tanzania), a renowned media personality celebrated for her influence and leadership in Tanzanian media.

National Director & Media Leadership Award: Tendai Hunda (Zimbabwe), National Director of Miss Universe Zimbabwe, recognised for her outstanding leadership in media and pageantry.

The event will be hosted by the main host, South African actress and master of ceremonies Maria Wa Magoasane, celebrated for her exceptional work as an MC across South Africa, bringing energy, professionalism, and charisma to every stage. The evening will also be co-hosted by Zimbabwean media personality Curtly Gwindi, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.
