Rugby fans heading to the much-anticipated Castle Lager Rugby Championship match between the Springboks and Australia on Saturday, 16 August, are being urged to leave their cars at home and use public transport.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has warned of major traffic disruptions around Emirates Airline Park (formerly Ellis Park Stadium) on Springboks match day.

“There will be limited parking and heavy traffic around the stadium for the Springboks-Australia match. We ask people to use Park-and-Ride, taxis, trains, or other transport options to avoid frustration,” said JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla.
